The Swedish Wind Ensemble
The Swedish Wind Ensemble has its residence at Musikaliska, Nybrokajen 11, Stockholm’s most ancient concert hall. The orchestra prides itself with its breadth of repertoire, genre-crossing collaborations, and its unusually gender-equal programming. The Swedish Wind Ensemble has developed, from a band directed by Stockholm’s public transport company SL – then called Stockholm’s Tramway men’s band – to a modern, bold, innovative ensemble, now in its 111th year.
The orchestra operates mainly in Stockholm, but has established itself as one of Scandinavia’s leading wind ensembles with a growing international reputation.
Cathrine Winnes, the Orchestra’s artistic director and principal conductor from 2016.
