The Swedish Wind Ensemble
The Swedish Wind Ensemble has its residence at Musikaliska, Nybrokajen 11, Stockholm’s most ancient concert hall, built in 1978. The orchestra prides itself with its breadth of repertoire, genre-crossing collaborations, and its unusually gender-equal programming. The Swedish Wind Ensemble has developed, from a band directed by Stockholm’s public transport company SL – then called Stockholm’s Tramway men’s band – to a modern, bold, innovative ensemble.
The orchestra operates mainly in Stockholm, but has established itself as one of Scandinavia’s leading wind ensembles with a growing international reputation.
Cathrine Winnes, the Orchestra’s artistic director and principal conductor from 2016.
